Somatic Movement Education Somatic Movement has been described as Tai Chi on the floor. It is designed to help you to remember how to move with ease and grace. Over time perhaps because of old injuries, sitting at a desk, held tension our body can become stiff and sore. Different areas of the body compensates for held tension and we don't move as freely as we might want to. Somatics is a very gentle method of unwinding the body and bringing us back to ease and alignment. It also has an impact on our overall sense of well-being.
Somatics allows us to become connected with our body and become more self-aware. We become intimately aware of our body in movement and how we can improve our movement. Interesting, that the more aware we become of our body, we step out of being in our heads and interestingly we also change our perception. How our body is effects our mind, how our mind is effects our body. We learn how to live more fully.
Somatics helps us to:
Unwind held and habituated body patterns.
Release held tension
Improve posture
Ease the body out of the fight/flight response and bring it to rest and relaxation
Bring calm to the body and to the mind.
Last 5 week block for 2022 on Zoom as follows: Thursday Mornings 10am - 11.15am. January 12th - 16th February.
